Former Ajax player wakes up from almost 3 year coma (photos)


After 2 years, 8 months and 19 days, Ajax player, Abdelhak Nouri has awaken from a coma and can now eat and sit in a wheelchair.

The 22-year-old initially suffered a cardiac arrhythmia attack on the pitch during a July 2017 friendly, causing brain damage while leaving him in a coma. 

It took about seven minutes after Nouri had collapsed for medics to act, then he was taken to hospital, where it was later revealed he had suffered serious brain damage.

Thankfully he is now awake again and slightly responsive, with the report stating that he: ‘sleeps, eats, frowns and burps but is very dependent.’

He came out the hospital window to appreciate fans who visited him after the news:
