Gunmen shoot union leader of Benue state students


Spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, said has confirmed that the President of the National Union of Benue State Students (NUBESS), Tyonor Smith, was shot by unknown gunmen yesterday.

She explained that upon investigation, it was discovered that Smith was involved in campus politics ahead of the students’ union election, and his opponent were alleged to have been responsible for his attack.

While the Police Spokesperson maintained that the command had launched investigations to unravel the gunmen and their cohorts, she added that the NUBESS president was in a stable condition after been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.
