The embattled suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu has been released on bail
Magu was released late yesterday following a formal application for his bail to the Presidential Panel investigating him for alleged graft. by his lawyer, Mr. Toyin Ojaomo, who confirmed his release to the press.
An appeal for bail on Tuesday sent to the Inspector-General of Police was turned down by the police chief, instead directing that the application be sent to the presidential panel headed by retired Justice Ayo Salami for consideration.
Magu was arrested by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) on July 6, 2020, after he faced a presidential panel, before he was subsequently suspended from office by President Muhammadu Buhari.
At least 12 directors including the executive secretary of the agency, Olukayode Olanikpekun, have been suspended from office as part of the probe of the agency.
