The police in Ogun State have captured a 40-year-old okada rider, Kingsley Madukwe, for purportedly beating his 40-year-old spouse, Glory Madukwe to death.
The capture of the suspect, it was found out, was a consequence of a report by one Chief Rafiu Gbadamosi, the Baale of Egando in Atan, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government territory of the state.
The Baale had told the police that the couple had a minor misconstruing because of which the spouse beat the wife to death at about 11:30pm on Wednesday.
An announcement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the DPO Atan Ota division, SP Salau Abiodun, drove his investigators to the scene where the suspect was immediately captured.
“On cross examination, the suspect, who is an indigene of Ihiala in Anambra State, portrayed that his late spouse, a mother of eight, was having a month old infant and that the infant was crying, which made him to wake his better half up to breastfeed the infant, however she rejected asserting that she was too worn out to even think about breastfeeding the infant around then,” Oyeyemi said.
The PPRO included that the late spouse got up and went to the parlor without conveying the child.
This was said to have angered the spouse, he reached out for her and “gave her a hot slap.”
He said the lady tumbled down and died.
