Nigerian Banks to remain open amidst covid-19 pandemic


The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it has triggered business continuity plans to ensure the bank’s operations remain uninterrupted despite the COVID-19 pandemic forcing shutdown  of business activities in many part of the country.

CBN Director of Corporate Communications Department, Mr Isaac Okorafor, disclosed that Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) and other financial institutions had been directed to do the same, as members of Nigerian public are assured that banks will remain open for business during this period.

Okorafor however added that the apex bank had directed its staff in non-critical role to, with effect from Wednesday yesterday, only stay at home and work remotely when their services were required.
