Nigeria’s Lassa fever cases still rising, despite focus on Covid-19

The Nigerian government really has its hand full at this time in managing a health emergency.

While there is a global focus on the deadly coronavirus, Nigeria is still yet to contain another disease; the Lassa fever, which has claimed 176 lives since the year 2020 began.

While it is common knowledge that the hemorrhagic fever is transmitted by contact with droplets from rodents, the Nigeria Centre of Disease Control is appealing for proper cleaning and disinfecting of environments, as 28 new cases were recorded last week and 3 deaths (these numbers are well over that from coronavirus).
