Rivers State goes on movement clampdown after first coronavirus is recorded

The Rivers State Government will close the state to traffic in all air, sea and land routes, beginning from 6pm, today Thursday, March 26, 2020.

The Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, in a broadcast yesterday said that the border closure measure – until further notice – became necessary in a move to check the spread of coronavirus to Rivers State.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease control late last night announced the South South state recorded its first coronavirus case.

Wike also added that vehicular movements in an out of Rivers State have been banned.
