Scientists create first-ever squid that is transparent

Researchers at the University of Chicago-affiliated Marine Biological Laboratory, have genetically-modified Doryteuthis pealeii squids, who are born completely transparent.

The world’s first ever transparent squids were achieved after scientists ‘knock out’ pigmentation gene in embryos that controls eye and skin cell color

Researchers say doing so will allow them study the creature’s unique system.
